What is Military Sexual Trauma?

Military sexual trauma, MST, refers to any experience of sexual assault or repeated, threatening secual harassment that occurred when an individual was in the military. The VA considers an experience to be MST, regardless of who the offender was, where the MST occurred, or whether the service member was on or off duty at the time. If you are unsure whether an experience you had would be considered MST, or whether you are eligible for treatment related to your experience, you may contact the VA St. Louis Health Care System Military Sexual Trauma Coordinator, Dr. Sutherland, at 314-265-5911.
