Maj Wayne Ricardo Hunte

United States Marine Wayne Ricardo "Rick" Hunte 48, of Jacksonville, NC passed peacefully into eternal life on January 11th at Duke University Medical Center after a prolonged and valiant struggle with cancer.

He was born in Toronto, Canada on September 14, 1967 to Yvonne M. Henry. Rick graduated from Charles H. Roth High School and went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Penn State University in 1989 where he was an ROTC Cadet. After graduation he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corp from which he retired as a Major in September of 2009.

He was a decorated veteran of both Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. After retirement, he earned a Master of Science in Leadership from Boston University and worked for VZENT, Jacksonville, NC.

Rick was a much loved brother in Christ and member of Kingdom Life Fellowship. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Yvonne Henry (Victor). He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife, Gabrielle Hunte; one sister, Laura Hunte; one aunt, Joyce Lewis (Philip), three uncles, Rudolph Niles (Grace), Jefford Hunte (Sheila); Trevor Hunte (Velma); a father and mother-in-law John and Connie LoCurto; one sister-in-law, Erika Hose (James); one brother-in-law, Ian LoCurto (Trish); and a host of family and friends.
