HR 303 and S 1147, The Retired Pay Restoration Act, will permit additional retired members of the Armed Forces who have a service-connected disability to receive both disability compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs for their disability and either retired pay by reason of their years of military service or combat-related special compensation. The failure to allow concurrent receipt is a blight on our benefits system. Military members earn their retirement through years of dedicated service. Disability payments compensate them for illness or disabilities incurred in the line of duty. These are separate issues and compensation for one should not be offset by the other. Please ask your Member of Congress and Senators to co-sponsor these bills.
